Part of running payroll as a business is withholding and paying required federal, state, and local taxes. Homebase will automatically withhold these taxes from your payroll (for your business and your employees). In order to properly direct your tax payments, Homebase needs your state tax Employer Account Number (EAN) and your State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) account number and rate. Some states have local taxes based on the city or township you live and/or work in as well.
The following guides will help you register for your state tax EAN and SUI IDs. Note that each state has different requirements, so be sure to follow the requirements for your state. Some states do not have state tax IDs, but you will still need to get a SUI ID.
Homebase cannot process state taxes on your behalf until you have registered for the necessary accounts. If you don't get us these numbers before the tax filing deadline, you may be responsible for penalties and interest on any late payments.
