Registration Steps for combined registration

  1. Combined registration is available only if you have not already registered with the Secretary of State’s office. If you have already registered, separate registration instructions in Step 2.
    The online business registration allows you to file your business (i.e. corporation, LLC, partnership, etc.), register for a Louisiana tax account number, and apply for an unemployment insurance account number.

    If you have NOT registered your business with the Secretary of State’s office:

    • Go to Revenue.louisiana.gov
    • Under businesses, select “Register a New Business”
    • Click on the geauxBIZ.com link
    • Select "Sign In or Create Account"
    • Select “Create Account”
    • Enter your email and create a password
    • Once registration is completed, go to the My Dashboard page by clicking the handle next to your name and selecting My Dashboard. Click the My Businesses tab, and then click Add Business. This will link your new account numbers to your geauxBIZ account.
  2. Create a username and password in Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point (LaTap) for your state withholding account:
    • Go to LaTap website to set up online access to your withholding account
    • Select “sign up”
    • Click on “business” and next
    • Enter your account number and business information

  3. Create a username and password for your Louisiana unemployment account
    • Go to LAWATS website to set up online access to your unemployment account
    • Click on “show instructions” next to Are you in need of a User Login ID
    • Click “Create an Employer Login Account”
    • Enter your account number and business information

Update your Homebase account with your Louisiana state and UI Tax Account Numbers. Your ID numbers are required for all Louisiana tax interactions to ensure your account is accurate.

Registration Steps - Register for each agency separately

  1. If you have already registered your business with the Secretary of State’s office- then you need to register for withholding and unemployment separately. To register for withholding:
    • Go to Revenue.louisiana.gov
    • Under businesses, select “Register a New Business”
    • Click on the “Additional Revenue Account”
    • Under Registration, select “Register My Business”
    • Select “Register My New Business”
    • Upon Completion you will receive a message confirming the Department of Revenue has received and is reviewing your application
    • You will receive a confirmation email containing the Louisiana Revenue Account Number you will use once your application is processed
    • If you have not provided a valid email address, your Louisiana Revenue Account Number will be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks.
  2. Create a username and password in Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point (LaTap) for your state withholding account:
    • Go to LaTap website to set up online access to your withholding account
    • Select “sign up”
    • Click on “business” and next
    • Enter your account number and business information

    • Go to LAWATS website to set up online access to your unemployment account
    • Click on “show instructions” next to Are you in need of a User Login ID
    • Click “Create an Employer Login Account”
    • Enter your account number and business information
