Why did I receive this tax notice?

You might occasionally receive notices from the IRS or state agencies and our Payroll Support team can review those notices and determine next steps. Although Homebase will not receive any notices regarding your company’s tax account directly, we are here to help!

Examples of notices can include:

Rate Change

Unemployment rates may change from year to year. You will receive a notice annually from the state indicating your unemployment rate for the following year.

Deposit frequency

The IRS and state agencies will determine your deposit frequency based on your company’s “lookback period” and it might change periodically. This is not based on how often you pay your employees.

Refund

A credit may be issued to your company if there was an overpayment to the agency. You will receive a notice regarding the overpayment.

Payment Due

The IRS or state agencies will send out a notice if you currently have any payments owed to your account.
